JWDA lamps by Menu

Sunday, September 3

On my latest visit in Berlin, I came across a very nice set of lamps from a design company Menu. These particular lamps are designed by Swedish architect and designer Jonas Wagell.

I really like the simple, elegant shape and also the stylish brass switch, which also acts as a dimmer. There are two series of the lamp, one with a concrete base and one with metallic. I am having a hard time to decide which one I like more, but both are definitely fantastic.

Grandiose Loft from Netherlands

Monday, February 15

Truly an amazing place.  This former tannery located in Gilze, Netherlands was bought and rebuilt by the owners Astrid and Wesley in the style of a classic loft. Huge factory windows, insanely high ceilings, concrete floors,  exposed bricks - it has everything!   I am also in love with the way how the place was furnished, using contemporary and mid century modern furniture with a custom built pieces (that tall plywood shelving unit is great).

Scandinavian House of Wood and Concrete

Friday, May 22

noguchi table
cork wall

Atmosphere in this Scandinavian house is quite special thanks to the interesting combination of the minimalist gray concrete and warm wood tones. Really an excellent selection of danish modern furniture and beautiful rugs can be seen here. In the bedroom there is a nice idea, whole wall is covered with the cork expanding its use to a  pinboard. . It is really a beautifully styled place, the feeling created by the use of numerous wood and brown leather objects in contrast with the concrete is really striking.
